I don't like the limit of 20 or 30. I think it should be 50.I have been flake on 5 times this summer myself.Even by auntieM . I think you should just deal with it. Because theres alot more good swappers than bad.Debbie

my goodness, i'm sorry it had to come to this due to the serial flakers! but setting a limit would be a great idea! i vote between 20-30 swaps max at a time.
at this point i am also against paying to be able to participate in unlimited swaps. the point of the swap limit is to prevent the serial flakers like auntieM, to join in too many swaps and then just flake on them. but with the possibility of a paid account that allows you to join in unlimited swaps leaves the option of serial flaking open still. if you are a serious re-peat offender flaker, a small yearly fee would not stand in your way. that's my thought about it, anyway.

thank you for your continuing hard work to make this site run better!

After seeing the list of swaps flaked on by AuntieM, and the amount of work dBowie did to find angels for them all - I am all for a limit.
However, I don't know about charging a fee. Not that it is not worth it, but I know for myself - with a disability and limited income (and v.high medical bills) it might make me have to leave. Most of the swaps I join are ones that I already have supplies for so I only have to pay postage.
I just cannot afford another bill right now, and I'm sure there are others in the same boat.
I'm not saying it's not worth paying for - but if you can make money off the advertisements and keep it free that would be better. Especially right now - maybe in a few years?

I think anywhere from 15-25 swaps at one time would be a fair amount.

I think a limit of 20 is appropriate. I also agree that an optional yearly upgrade fee may be helpful in reducing flakers. Like basic (free) flickr and flickr pro accounts.

I like the 20 swap limit with not being able to sign up for anymore until you get rated for one. For example, you sign up for 20, send out one and it's rated, so you can sign up for one more. That way, you can keep a constant level of 20 swaps if you so choose. As for paying for an account, in all honesty, it would depend on how much you would charge for such an account. Some of us are on limited incomes, (and therefore swap in smaller swaps, rather than big-ticket swaps) so I'm sure there would be some of us that couldn't afford a large fee for service. And my other question is, would it be a one-time LIFETIME fee, or would it be an annual fee? Rachel and Travis: you're doing a helluva job straightening this site out and I commend you for your efforts! Just my two cents.

I think 20-25 is a good limit, too. It's really sad that it's necessary to do this. :( I'd also be willing to pay an annual fee for swapbot. Again, thank you Rachel and Travis!!!

I think 20 swaps is a good limit. I'd also be willing to pay a subcriber fee, if it was a fair fee. For example: I am a member of ClubPogo. They charge $39.00 a year to be a member. The reason I say yearly fee is because I think it would be less work for Rachel and Travis, who already are tasked to the limit with things to watch out for. That way, they wouldn't have to chase after the money - monthly.

I am so sorry that there are people who, not only, take advantage of others, but don't respect the admins of this site.

Depending on the cost of the fee, I don't think it would necessarily deter super flakers. But to the original question, I think 20 swaps is plenty. And when you send out, you can sign up for more. Plus, this might encourage more people to use their watchlists.

I am willing to pay a yearly/monthly fee to swap, too. If members are required to pay by paypal/credit card etc, it might help weed out underage swappers, too. (Not that it prevent a determined underage person from swapping, it would just make it more difficult.)
