User Ratings

User ratings was quietly released today. Rating and commenting on a user’s swap performance works, but the reporting side of things is lacking. Currently the reporting is on a member’s profile page, but I am afraid that page is going to turn into a mess. Any suggestions are welcome.
You can get to rating by viewing a swap you are in and clicking on the ‘rate your swap partners’ link under the list of things you can do as a member of the swap.

i’m so glad to see there is now a rating system!!!!!!obviously since this a new feature a lot of people haven’t entering in their ratings, but as you mentioned, for frequent swappers their profile page is going to get out of control after their partners continually rate them. i would suggest making this an entirely separate page for each participant. So when I view someone’s profile page I can click on a link that says “View my rating” or “View Rating Detail” and see that information.
Also, is there a way for you to show the number of swaps participated in/swaps started in addition to the rating information?
p.s. i’m assuming that someone rated a 5 is better than someon rated a one???

Thank you for adding this feature. I’ve been disappointed in a few flakes that decided that it wasn’t necessary to follow through with sending. I hope this will help alert organizers that they have a bad swapper in their swap.

I’m worried that your rating system is too simple. Is there anyway that a rating can only be made if there is an explanation along with it. I’d like to know why I got a low rating especially if it is something I have no control over like the postal system.

Could you just show the rating number on the member’s page? If someone wants to see the actual comments, they could click on a link and it would go into a separate page. I think eBay has something similar.

First, let me say I love swap-bot. I think it’s terrific!
I like the idea of ratings, and I’ve noticed that administrators do put warnings in their descriptions.
I just wonder if there is a way to encourage people to use them more. I’ve participated in seven swaps now that could be rated, but only one person has left a rating for me.
Also, I’ve noticed that even though administrators put warnings in the swap descriptions, they don’t often follow through. For example, I was in this swap where at least three members had ratings of 1. Each of them had signed up for many swaps and had never sent anything.

When the swap date closed they were still part of the swap. I felt kind of bad for their partners. Isn’t there something to be done about people who sign up for multiple swaps and have a record of never sending anything?

Clicked here by accident and found it interesting but not current. Part of the problem with the rating system is that technically a swap can meet the standard ” ie: scrapbook sticker exchange” but 3 out of the 6 times I have swapped, I have received old crap that someone had from gosh knows where. Technically I received stickers but could they be used for scrapping? No. Maybe for envelope decoration or kids papers.
