I am a member of Livejournal.com, and there was a community there that was in the “community spotlight” section, which participated in swapping. I read about that community, which is not affiliated with swap-bot, but saw that due to them being featured for the week, hundreds of people had joined that community, and that they were’nt able to take new members because of the huge response.

So, I went to google.com and searched for terms like swapping and pen pals, and that’s where i found swapbot! I’ve been here for almost two years and i’m having a great time! I’m even starting to introduce friends and family to swap bot (my mom is now hooked! you can find her here as beancounter17).

Last summer I “StumbledUpon” Postcrossing.com and got hooked on collecting and trading postcards. Members are limited on the number of postcards they can have circulating at any one time so I started Googling for other venues for swapping cards. That’s how I came across Swap-Bot. I still mostly swap postcards but am getting into other things as well. I’m addicted to this site!!!

I am very taken by her and the Crafty Chica and I heard they roamed around swap-bot SO being the curious person I am, I browsed swap-bot. That was back in September 2008 and I haven’t looked back nor have I regretted it.

How did I find out about Swap-bot? I have been involved with Swap-bot for quite awhile now and I am not totally sure about how I found out about Swap-bot, but I am pretty sure I found out by “word of mouth.” I was doing a few swaps through another site and was expressing how much fun and enjoyment I was getting out of the swaps and one of the woman I was swapping with, shared with me about Swap-bot and thought I might enjoy it as well. She gave me the website and I went exploring, tried out a few swaps and I was hooked.

I found out about Swap-bot through a friend on Live Journal. I had mentioned that I was making ATCs but didn’t know what to do with them and she told me about this site.
After having several Yahoo groups I was in get deleted and a couple of communities on Live Journal die, I was happy to find a site that allowed me to do all kinds of swaps without a small group of people controlling all the swaps. If those people lose interest, then the whole group/community dies which is unfair to the other involved. And that’s why I love Swap-bot, because anyone can start a swap.

I first heard about Swap Bot on another forum called Diabetes Daily. I am diabetic and a diabetes care worker on the forum started a great swap called “Thriving with Diabetes.” I joined Swap Bot because the swap seemed so fun and I’d never heard of a website like Swap Bot before at the time. Now I’m completely hooked. I’ve joined many other swaps and I even started one.

It was about 6 months ago when on my blog I was asking if anyone knew a place where to get “card exchanging”/penpals/mail friends and someone commented on that entry telling about Swap-bot. I immediately clicked the link and created an account for myself. :D I had never heard of this site before, it’s not really know in Finland or Sweden.

Ooh! I love to share the story of how I found swap-bot! I’d been searching the web for a crochet pattern. Someone had asked me about making them some “soakers” for cloth diapers (I didn’t even know what those were till I started looking around!). Anyway, somehow I ended up at a swap-bot member’s blog, momwithahook. She didn’t have a soaker pattern, but she did have some pictures of absolutely adorable crocheted stuffies that she’d made for a swap-bot swap. I just had to see what that cuteness was about, clicked a link, and I was hooked! :o)

I heard about Swap-bot on TV. I do not even know the show but someone had demonstrated how to make an ATC and I caught the last 5 seconds of it. Swap-bot went on the screen and I went on the computer. I’ve been swapping ATCs since.

Wow, were to begin. I ran into the site of Swap-bot over two years ago on doing a search for swaps. The word swaps will take you to alot of places not just here if you know what I mean LoL. I clicked on the site link which had brought me to the main site, and just by seeing all the neat projects that everyone had completed was enough for me to venture on in. That was the first thing that peeked my senses. Then when it said it was a free membership then that really was awesome. I figured if I didn’t like it I would drop out gracefully. Well as you might have guessed it, that was all it took for me to get hooked on this site. many awesome projects and the next best thing to having a real family and a family of wonderful swappers to share my love of crafting, swapping and sewing. What more could I ask for, nothing absolutely nothing LoL
    Hugs Robin

I first heard about Swap-Bot from Angel1985. We are “real life friends” (remember those hehe) and I was visiting her home and saw some ATC’s on her wall. I know that she’s crafty so I thought she’d made them all. Then she explained that she got them through swap-bot (she had mentioned it before). After that I went to the website and I have been hooked ever since. I hope to have a blast swapping!!

I used to swap on a site sponsored by PaperCrafts magazine (it has since been absorbed into another site). A newbie posted on the message board asking what the various swap acronyms stood for, i.e. ATC, FB, HTH, etc. One of them was asking what swap-bot stood for. Since I’d been swapping there for about three years and that was a new one on me, I did a Google search … the rest is swap history. :)

I was working in a Pharmacy at a local Grocery Store and a customer came up with 20-30 postcards. I asked if she was a teacher doing a project and she told me about Swap-Bot. I joined that evening and my boys (ages 8 and 11) have enjoyed every swap we’ve joined!!

I used to belong to a Yahoo group called PaganATCs and one of the swappers there told me about Swap-bot. It sounded like such a neat idea, to swap stuff with people all over the world. I started out small, with just ATC swaps, but I made so many wonderful friends that I ended up swapping all sorts of stuff! I joined in September of 2007, and have created my own groups, led more swaps that I can remember and have gotten to see the world through the eyes and creative hands of my swap partners. What else can I say? I am now officially a Swap-addict, having to check in at “The ‘bot” AT LEAST twice a day! blessings, Gypsy

I was clicking around at work because I was bored and came across this site. It looked so fun! I read the forums, looked at the swaps and after a few days I signed up. That was about a year and a half ago. I’ve gone through stages with tons of swaps and stages with only one or two private swaps, but I always come back to read the forums!
