I’ll be recycling junkmail into beautiful handmade paper, my latest addiction. Wish I could use the washing machine less, but with the changing weather all the time (rain/no rain), and 4 boys on the loose here, that’s working overtime… But I don’t use a dryer!

I have been celebrating and participating in Earth Day for 40 years. In those years I have converted numerous friends and family to recycling. Today I celebrate by wearing GREEN and handing out “GO GREEN” Buttons to everyone in my building that is actively Recycling. Thanks and Hug a

I love the idea of Earth Day
I’m teaching some of my friends (have 5 friends coming over later) how to make useful handmade items out of ephemera, old newspaper, papermache and so on.

The kids at school are so excited about Earth day. I’ve been teaching a class or two a day how to make envies. We’ve used wallpaper samples, old sheet music, and old magazines. They’ve had so much fun and each got to take a template home.

I am ‘celebrating’ by hanging out at home with a crabby baby with a cold.
There are worse things.

@niecedenise – what a great idea! My family will turn off all electricity at sundown and have a bbq, bonfire, and candlelight dinner. We’ll also swap out cords for powerstrips to disconnect easily when we’re sleeping and/or not at home.

My DH’s birthday is today too, so we will turn off all the lights at dusk and have a toast to him and to our beautiful planet in front of the fireplace.
I am also not going to do any shopping today! lol

I’m celebrating by reading “Dora’s Earth Day” with my son and then doing the things she does in the book like picking up trash, teaching about turning off lights, etc.

I’m celebrating Earth Day by turning off the lights and by (trying) to learn how to weave found plastic bags into something useful.
I recycle on a regular basis whatever I can, I collect the cold water from the tap before the hot water comes in a bucket – we get about 3 buckets a week which are used for washing clothes, watering the plants and leaving water outside for the stray cats to drink.
And I’m orit in Swap-bot

I’m celebrating earth day by being mindful about recycling the trash, saying ‘no’ when a shopkeeper asks if I want a plastic bag, and shutting off all electricity at 9pm and read a book or craft by candle light

I took a long walk in the park, picking up trash as I went. Yhis is not an unusual thing for me to do, but it seemed especially appropriate today,

Here we are celebrating Earth Day by installing a 3000 litre rainwater tank in the backyard for the vegetable patch. An absolute necessity as I live in the driest state of Australia

My daughter and I spent Earth Day by planting a wonderful garden in the town/city. We took 25 small milk cartons, cut the tops off and had the children at the school decorate them with construction paper and put a handle on them. Then they got to put dirt in them. Then I and my daughter bought each one of the students a bulb to keep and to plant in the dirt then watered the bulb. Then we had them use the clear Cellophane that we bought and wrapped it around the milk carton at the top and tied it with a bow. And they went and put their project in the windows. And the students made their very first hot house/ green house. Hope you enjoyed the little project we do for Earth day every year.

Today was spent cleaning out the garage!!! I had 20 boxes in there full with stuff I haven’t touched in years. I scavenged through every box, ended up with about 7 huge plastic bags’ worth of school papers for recycling and 15 of those boxes were able to be broken down to be recycled. I now have 5 boxes of stuff I’m going to keep with one huuuuuuuuuuuge box going to Goodwill to be reused by a new loving owner. I’m so glad I recycled all of that stuff instead of letting it sit in the garage for even longer to get nasty and have to be thrown away due to mold or something.
