Your friendly peeps here at Swap-bot HQ have gone a little crazy over an article about the ‘bot in today’s NY Daily News. We are so excited! Super-awesome reporter, Barry Paddock, contacted us a few weeks ago and interviewed us last weekend, along with NY Swap-bot users luluvision and Provadia (that is luluvision in the photo above, and the adorable dollhouse matchbox I received from cobaltgypsy makes an appearance in the photo below). He was incredibly nice and we are so thrilled that he wanted to write about Swap-bot. We love press!

blog review: Craft Test Dummies

crafttestdummies

Craft Test Dummies is written by Jenny Barnett Rohrs, a self-proclaimed craftista who also reports for Craft Critique. Craft Test Dummies is Jenny’s personal blog, started in January 2008, where she shares product reviews and info about craft projects and tools.

From the site description:

Crafting is cool, fun, challenging, and occasionally annoying. Craft Test Dummies is my forum to test out new products and techniques, check out up-and-coming craftsters, and give y’all the straight poop. It’s my goal to get you fired up about your favorite craft, turn you on to new ones, and get you chatting with each other. So buckle up!

Jenny promises to be honest and forthright about the craft products she test, plus she is really funny! If you are constantly on the search for more good crafting info, Craft Test Dummies should be on your blogroll.

From the swap description:

“Winter is cold and long and the anticipation of spring can be agonizing for some of us so let’s write a zine about winter to give us an outlet for our winter thoughts and memories. With December right around the corner, the USPS is gearing up for another busy holiday mailing season. The USPS has released its holiday shipping dates. Even if you are not concerned about getting your package to someone by December 25th, keep in mind that mailing and shipping times can be much longer during the holidays. If you do want a package to arrive by Christmas (especially internationally) mail it as early as possible!!

USPS Holiday Mail Deadlines:

First Class Mail: Domestic – Dec-21, International – Dec 4

Priority Mail: Domestic – Dec-21, International – Dec 4

Express Mail: Domestic – Dec-23, International – Dec 12

weekly swaps: New Year's Resolutions

During the holiday season things can get hectic and busy, not to mention expensive. Participating in large and complicated swaps may not be feasible for everyone right now, but why not keep up the swapping fun in an easy and inexpensive way?

I found two simple swaps that are all about our resolutions and plans for 2010: hosted by and hosted by . Both swaps require you to write out your thoughts about next year and send them to your partner. Lexidh’s swap is and international email swap, and Candyn29’s swap is an international snail mail letter swap. Please read each swap’s full descriptions before signing up.

Also, I know these are not the only New Year-themed swaps out there. Please leave a comment with a link to any other similar swaps you find.
